Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Steam engine from saw mill in Llantwit Major, South Glamorgan. Probably first used to power a small generating plant, and last used in 1974 to drive a generator at a saw mill in Llantwit Major.
It appears to retain many of its original features - round spoked flywheel, disc crank, fish bellied crosshead guide bars, belt driven governor, mahogany cylinder lagging etc. Engine and outboard crankshaft bearing are mounted on modern steel frames. Painted black, green and red.
1 cylinder: 7½" diameter Stroke: 14" Output: about 15 hp Efficiency: 12% Flywheel: 5' diameter Pulley belt drive to governor.
