Roman samian bowl
The rim is carelessly made and everted. The upper zone has a festoon and tassel frieze, the festoons containing a stem and spiral, the tassels in the form of a leaf like motif: cf. Knorr 1919, Taf. 62, 44 (Passienus), Knorr 1919, Taf. 55, J and 61, A (Meddillus and Niger) show some resemblances, though the style also occurs on earlier work.The form and fabric indicate an early Flavian date.
