Dish, vegetable, and cover

Baker, Bevans and Irwin, Glamorgan Pottery (1813-1839)

Dish, earthenware, rounded oblong shape, standing on a spreading oblong pedestal foot with lobed foot-rim, curving sides, lobed rim extending at either end into solid raised handles moulded with foliate scrolls, the cover a rounded oblong shape and domed with a vertical scroll handle at the top, a moulded flower head to the top of the handle, a curving moulded band around the rim of the cover; transfer-printed in blue with to the centre of the well a spreading spray of wild roses issuing further flowers and foliage, small sprays of flowers around the sides of the well, to the exterior sides of the dish similar spreading sprays of wild roses issuing flowers and foliage with small sprays of flowers and foliage to the sides below the handles, dentilled ribbon border issuing small flower heads to the foot-rim, the same border to the interior lip-rim, to the cover the same spreading sprays of wild roses issuing further flowers and foliage alternating with smaller sprays of flowers and foliage, the same border to the rim of the cover as on the dish.
