Jug, earthenware, standing on a straight-sided foot-rim, pouch-shaped fluted body flaring out to a lobed lip-rim, slightly elongated beak spout, scrolled handle with raised thumb-spur and twig-like moulding to it; transfer-printed in dark brown and overpainted in reds, greens and blues with the 'Bombay Japan' pattern, to either side of the body a design with spreading sprays of flowers and foliage, an urn and insects, border to the interior and exterior neck of spreading sprays of flowers and foliage surmounted by a narrow border of foliage to the interior and exterior lip-rim.
