Welsh costume hat
Used by farmer's wife Sarah Jenkins, Carmarthenshire. Tall hat, high crown covered with black beaver silk fabric. Poor condition, crown badly crushed, beaver fabric faded and torn. Silk lining inside crown torn; silk/linen striped lining in top of crown has faint stamp of ?woman in hat. Inner lining band of plain weave black silk. Hat band of black silk gimp, tied in bow.
