S.S. MAYWOOD (2) (1823gt). Built 1923 by Charles Rennoldson & Co., South Shields as PARKHILL for Matthew Taylor, Methil. 1930 - Sold to J.T.Duncan, Cardiff, and renamed MAYWOOD. She survived WW2 despite being damaged by a mine in the Bristol Channel in January 1941 when carrying a cargo of explosives. Her captain, William Storm Harrison, beached her at Whitmore Bay; she was later drydocked at Barry for repairs. By the mid 1950s, she was the only ship left with the company. She was broken up at Zelzate, Ghent in November 1959. (Source: tynebuiltships.co.uk)
