Hopkins, L.
(writer)
Copy of a letter from L. Hopkins (Swansea) concerning the Plygain : '...the Plygain is very much alive in the Methodist chapels in this district. For instance, it is practised in my own chapel (Capel y Cwm Welsh Methodist) every year at 6 a.m. One of our senior deacons, who died about a year ago in his nineties, said that it had been held continuously back to the 1830's and probably back to the late eighteenth century...'
