An oil painting (framed) of Charles Oscar Owen (donor’s grandfather) during his tea break at Dinorwig Quarry. Signed and dated bottom right. In the painting Charles Oscar Owen can be seen lighting a pipe, whilst a mug of tea is by his side. The galleries of Dinorwig Quarry can be seen in the background. The painting shows clearly the type of clothing worn by quarrymen during the mid 20th century. The work was painted by Mr H. Llew Jones (a local artist, living in Llanberis), and it is believed that the painting was on display in an exhibition in the local area (perhaps in Llanberis or Caernarfon) during the middle of the 20th century.
