Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Brass and wrought iron fireside stand. Made by John Lewis, who was born at Morriston in 1832, and married Hannah Jones at Llangynwyd Church, Maesteg in 1854. He died in 1890. He was a foundry moulder from Morriston, and worked in a Swansea copper works and made this object for his family home. Family tradition relates that his daughter Mary Ann (born 1868) when ages nine held a candle during winter evenings for her father as he worked on some of these items.
