Green cotton headscarf/neckerchief with embroidered inscription in multicoloured threads: SANIDAD MILITAR / FMLN / CURCILLO 401 HEROES'.
Triangular headscarf made from green cotton; selvage along upper (long) edge and narrow double turnback, secured with machine stitches using blue thread on lower (shorter) edges. The inscription is hand-embroidered with different stitches using different coloured threads of cotton and wool fibres. For the upper part of the inscription (SANIDAD MILITAR / FMLN) the embroidery is applied over letters originally printed in black (the print is still visible in areas of loss in the embroidery). The remaining inscription (inscribed within a banner) does not appear to have print underneath it. The fabric on the proper left (underneath the inscription) is distorted and together with fragments or red thread remaining lodged in the fabric suggests that a further inscription may have been embroidered there.
