Senghenydd pit disaster, 1913, film negative
Black and white film negative of a photograph showing a Rescue Team leaving the pit following the 1913 Universal Colliery pit disaster, Senghenydd. Rescue teams were used at Senghenydd for many days, searching for survivors and fighting fires which were raging underground. One of the teams is shown leaving the pit after their shift. Inscription on photograph reads " Pit Disaster at Senghenydd. Heroes All'. A rescue party leaving the Pit after a night search."
