Built 1944 as EMPIRE STUART by Short Brothers Ltd., Sunderland, for MoWT (managed by Frank C. Strick & Co., London). 1946 – Sold to Norwood Steamship Co., and renamed LORD LLOYD GEORGE (managed by Ships Finance & Management Co Ltd., London). 1955 – Sold to Rotterdamsche Kolen Centrale NV., Rotterdam, and renamed ATJE-RAY-S. 1957 – Sold to Insulare Cia. Sicula di Armamento, Palermo, and renamed GIANFRANCO, managed by C.I.T.M.A.R., Genoa. She was broken up at Vado Ligure, Italy, in 1964. (mariners-l.co.uk/empireships) (Compare P02.3167)
