Tamping rod
Brass stamper (stampiwr), for tamping gunpowder in blast holes. Consists of a cylindrical piece of brass, originally a solid brass rod, which has been turned between centres and has had one end hollowed out to a depth of 5.8 cms to form a ferrule. This has two countersunk holes drilled into it, for attaching an ash handle. A groove is formed at opposite end, to accomodate the fuse while tamping.
