Roman copper alloy fantail brooch
The brooch is large and of stout construction, the detail being badly obscured by corrosion. A cushion moulding marks the junction between the bow and the lozenge-shaped plate and has a broad moulded border with ribs fanning out from the cushion. There is a full back plate. The leg terminates in a pronounced foot with four rivets present. The knobs are missing on the extensions to the sharply curved bow but two rivets are present.
