Unite Union armband 'OFFICIAL PICKET', used on picket line against closure of the Remploy furniture factory in Baglan, Port Talbot in 2013. Remploy was once the UK's largest employer of people with disabilities with seven factories in Wales; the first opened in Bridgend in 1946. The decision to close Remploy factories was made under the Conservative Government Minister for Disabled People, Maria Miller. Remploy workers protested againt the decision and held two days of industrial action across the UK. The Port Talbot factory announced closure in August 2013 when they were unable to find a viable buyer and 54 disabled employees were made redundant.

rectangular twill-woven patch of neon-yellow synthetic fabric, printed with black lettering, backed with white, non-woven, synthetic material; length of white elastic stitched to either (short) side, to be worn around upper arm. The elastic band is wider on one side than the other and varies between 2 and 2.4cm in width. Edges of armband are finished with overlocker stitches.
