Roman copper alloy folding foot rule
Fragments of a bronze folding foot-rule. The Roman foot is equivalent to 0.295m. One arm is almost complete and bears evenly spaced notched dots along two of its surfaces. At one end it retains part of the stay which pivoted from one arm to lock on to two rivets of the other arm to hold the rule rigid when in use. The second arm is in fragments but retains the hinge and the rivets for securing the stay.
