Terrence Higgins Trust heart shaped pin badge in card folder. Given out at the funeral service of Martyn Butler OBE who died on 21 February 2026. The service was held at St Woolos Cathedal, Newport, on 28 March 2026.
Martyn Butler (1954-2006) was born in Newport, moved to London in the 1970s, before returning to Newport later in life. He was friends with Terry Higgins (they both worked in Heaven nightclub together), who was the first named person in the UK to die of an AIDS related illness in 1982. Following Terry’s death Martyn co-founded the Terrence Higgins Trust with Terry’s partner Rupert Whitaker. He remained active with the Trust up until his death.
