Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Boarded armchair. Used at Gelli'r On Farm until 2003.
Constructed from six planks of wood nailed together to form a high and curved backed-settle chair; both arms made from single planks of oak, shaped at top; from arms, planks graduate in size to form fluted back that appears to have been cut down at one time; two and a half inch thick oak seat with large knott in centre; back of chair has pine batton running from top to bottom (possibly later) to cover gap between planks; also battons placed to top and bottom with two metal coat hangers screwed in to the top batton; whole chair covered with several layers of reddish-brown varnish cracking in places.
