The church at Briton Ferry
BAXTER, Thomas (Baxter learned enamelling in his father's London decorating shop, but he also attended the Royal Academy School where he was instructed by the artist Henry Fuseli. As well as painting porcelain he also worked as a drawing master and watercolourist. Baxter returned from London to Worcester in 1814, and moved from there to Swansea in 1816 where he worked as an outside artist for the Swansea China Works. In 1819 Baxter returned to Worcester where he worked fot the Chamberlain manufactory until his death in 1821.
Baxter is especially known for the quality of his portraits and human figures, and in particular his cupids or putti.)
