Iron Age / Roman iron latch lifter
A near complete latch lifter in two fragments. The fragments are both heavily corroded an their form can only be loosely identified by shape.
Upon X-ray however, a really clear image was captured. The object has a round perforated head, leading to a straight shaft. About two thirds of the way down it bends 90 degrees, the rest of the shaft gently curves back on itself to form a loop. The end of the loop is missing, leaving a flat break over halfway along the loop. The originaly X-ray image was misnumbered as SF 25 when it should have been SF125.
Recovered from a layer of silty-clay post-dating the use of Building B.
