Salting trough used to salt large pieces of beef. Slabs of slate, from Penrhyn Quarry, cut with a circular saw and then fixed together using bolts and captive nuts. The holes have been plugged with lead, and the edges are also housed into sides. Thickness of slate varies from 35mm to 40mm. Paste filler used along seams.
