Lithophane
Porcelain plaque or 'lithophane', the porcelain body of a greyish hue when unlit, a bright creamy yellow when lit; of rectangular form, very thinly cut; relievo moulded, forming areas of light and shade, to depict when back lit, a large tree leaning over a road or trackway, beneath the tree, a wayside monument, perhaps a way-marker or a drinking fountain; two figures male and female stand facing the monument; in the background, smaller shrub-type foliage and distant trees disclosing a peaked-roffed building below a large expanse of sky.
