The Recipe

You will need

  • short-crust pastry
  • currants
  • sugar
  • black treacle

Method

  1. Line an oven-proof plate with pastry, rolled out fairly thinly. 
  2. Cover with a thick layer of currants and add sugar and black treacle to taste. 
  3. Seal with a second layer of pastry and bake in a hot oven.
