Cross-carved stone, Church of St Peter and St. Illtud, Llanhamlach

This 10th - 11th century stone is sometimes known as the Moridic or Llanhamlach stone. It was first recorded in c. 1852 being used as a lintel above a window in a ruined medieval building south of the Church. In 1874 it was fixed near the door of the re-built rectory and later to the east side of the porch where, presumably, this photograph was taken. It is now inside the Church. Amgueddfa Cymru has a cast of the stone in its collection.
