Cross-shaft, St Illtud's Church, Llantwit Major

This late 8th century cross-shaft has an inscription naming Samson and is consequently also known as the Samson stone. It is now housed in the Galilee Chapel at St Illtud's Church. The photograph shows it at the east side of the porch, where it was erected in 1793.
