Cross, Merthyr Mawr

This 11th century cross is known locally as the Goblin stone as it is said to be haunted. The image shows the rear view. It originally stood in a field called Kaer Groes, or the 'Goblin Field', but was moved in the 1830s to the grounds of Merthyr Mawr House. It is shown here outside the 15th century St Roch's Chapel, in the grounds of the house. It is now inside St Roch's chapel.
