The Edith Eleanor was the last wooden sailing vessel to be built at the port of Aberystwyth. Completed in 1881, by J. Worrall and Co., she was traded regularly to the Mediterranean. The National Library of Wales at Aberystwyth has an identical painting in its collections; proving that these ship portraits were ‘mass produced’ for sale to seamen.
