Hi,

I have one as well. It was given to my grandfather after the first world war. The Shearn family were mainly miners in South Wales and Radstock, Somerset. He started working for the Coop selling insurance because he didn't want to work "down the pit". Because of his mining contacts he sold a lot of business and was given the plate by the Coop. His family has grown and now live all over the world - most in high level professional jobs.

Hi, I have one of these in my personal collection. Is there anything stamped on the back of this example? The one I have has a stamp on the back "Brigg's Booters" Abertillery, the ink stamp is in the glaze. I did research and couldn't find the Boot Shop in Abertillery until about 1912 and I just can't think why they would want to order pressings of this plate in-between anniversaries? Have you any ideas?
