LATES event returns to National Museum Cardiff in 2024

Celebrating art, culture and community

The much-anticipated late-night event for adults only returns to National Museum Cardiff, on 9 February, 7pm - 11.30pm. Celebrating contemporary art and the Artes Mundi 10 exhibition, this event will captivate audiences with a blend of music, activities, contemporary art, performances, and delicious food.

A special In Conversation event from with Mujib Yahaya, Shirish Kulkarni and Ogechi Dimeke (Artes Mundi 10 Exhibition) will take place before the Lates event at 6pm.

In partnership with Artes Mundi, LATES offers a unique opportunity to explore the Museum’s main hall and gallery spaces, showcasing Cardiff’s creativity and talent. The event aims to foster connections and reflections on various artistic voices, with a special focus on celebrating Cardiff as a city of sanctuary. The spotlight will be on artists and creatives who have adopted Cardiff as their home.

Highlights from the evening include a performance from Oasis One World Choir, indulge in culinary delights at the Global Eats Pop-Up Falafel Kitchen by Oasis Catering Team, explore the Artes Mundi 10 Exhibition and enjoy Creative Workshops and Activities.

There will also be a chance to learn about the exciting initiative, Celf ar y Cyd, as part of the National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales and meet the team.

The Main Hall stage lineup will transform the space into an atmospheric utopia.  Expect to witness dance, live music, and DJ sets from Cardiff’s creatives. The night will close with a set by Raven007.  Mixing house, ballroom vogue beats, and techno - expect a unity of sound, dance, and expression.

Tickets for HWYRNOS / LATES cost £12 and are available to purchase now from https://museum.wales/cardiff/whatson/12139/LATES-AM10/

The special In Conversation from 6pm that explores how Cardiff being a City of Sanctuary results in incredible contributions to our shared culture and society. The conversation will be hosted by Natasha Gauthier. *This element of the Programme is ticketed at an additional cost, and tickets need to be booked in advance online.
