Nine Treasure finds from North-East Wales declared Treasure

Nine treasure finds spanning from the Late Bronze Age to the seventeenth century were declared treasure on Tuesday 30 April 2024 by the Assistant Coroner for North Wales (East & Central), Ms. Kate Robertson. 

Eight Treasure finds from South Wales and Powys declared Treasure

Eight treasure finds, including four Bronze Age finds, a Roman coin group, a medieval coin group, an early medieval silver ingot and a post-medieval coin pendant were declared treasure on Tuesday 23 April by Area Coroner for South Wales Central, Ms. Patricia Morgan.

Roman Treasure Found on Anglesey

A pair of Roman bracelets were declared treasure on Wednesday 13th March by H.M. Acting Coroner for North Wales (East & Central), Kate Robertson.

Two copper alloy bands (Treasure Case 23.68) were found by Mr Andrew Hutchinson whilst metal detecting in Llanddyfnan Community, Anglesey, in September 2023. As a treasure find, the bracelets were handed in to Sean Derby with Dyfed Archaeological Trust, before being taken in for identification and interpretation by expert curators from Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales at National Museum Cardiff.

Dressed in Silver: Treasure found in South-West Wales

Four treasure finds, including a Post Medieval silver pendant and a Post Medieval silver thimble, were declared treasure on Wednesday 13th March by H.M. Acting Senior Coroner for Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, Paul Bennett.  

A Post Medieval silver pendant (Treasure Case 20.12) was found by Mr Nicholas Davies while metal detecting in Llansteffan Community, Carmarthenshire in July 2020.  As a treasure find, the pendant was safely deposited to Amgueddfa Cymru for identification and reporting by Sian Iles, Curator of Medieval and Later Archaeology.  

Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales welcomes five new Board members

Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales is welcoming five new trustees to its board to help drive forward its work for the next few years.

The five trustees, two of whom are appointed by Welsh Government and three by Amgueddfa Cymru, will serve for a period of four years.
