A Late Bronze Age penannular ring and a Medieval silver annular brooch were declared treasure on Thursday 21^st December 2023 by the Senior Coroner for Gwent, Caroline Saunders. 

The Welsh Government announced its 2024-2025 draft budget on Tuesday 19 December, presenting Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales with a financial cut of 10.5%. This is part of a programme of extensive cuts across all Welsh Government portfolios to address the significant shortfall in the Welsh Government budget. 

A new acquisition comprising 40 photographs by Garry Fabian Miller - one of the most progressive figures in fine art photography - is secured for Amgueddfa Cymru’s permanent collection.

Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales has appointed Glamorgan Brewing Company as the brewery for The Vulcan Hotel when it opens at St Fagans National Museum of History in 2024.

Unplanned protest activity has taken place at National Museum Cardiff in response to this crisis. Amgueddfa Cymru supports the right for people to protest peacefully but asks that all protests undertaken are respectful and do not put the safety of our visitors, staff, volunteers, and the national collection at risk. 

Four treasure finds, including a Bronze Age hoard, two Roman silver finger-rings and a medieval silver brooch pin were declared treasure on Tuesday 14th November 2023 by Area Coroner for South Wales Central, Patricia Morgan.
