Big Pit’s Mining Craft Apprenticeship Scheme goes from strength to strength, and now in its third year, another three new Mining Craft Apprenticeship opportunities are currently being advertised.Visitors to the National Coal Museum in Blaenavon comment positively on the knowledge of the Miner Guides who bring the experience of working underground to life. Many have first-hand experience and the Museum is looking to pass this knowledge on to its newest recruits.
Queering the collections: Taking a fresh look at art through an LGBTQ+ lens at National Museum Cardiff
As a way of ensuring that we celebrate LGBTQ+ history outside of February’s LGBTQ+ History Month, National Museum Cardiff and Pride Cymru have teamed up to launch a new series of volunteer-led tours around the museum’s finest artwork, looking at the collection through a queer lens. The first free tour will be held on Sunday 15 March at National Museum Cardiff with sessions available in English and Welsh.

Imagine a Castle: Paintings from the National Gallery, London opens in Cardiff
One of the most original and impressive examples of 18th century landscape painting – The Fortress of Königstein Castle from the North (1756–8) by Venetian master painter Bernardo Bellotto, is on display at National Museum Cardiff from 28 January – 10 May 2020 as part of a UK-wide tour by the National Gallery, London.
Cardiff bids a fond farewell to Dippy following a record-breaking stay
National Museum Cardiff has bid an emotional farewell to Dippy the Diplodocus, the Natural History Museum London’s famous dinosaur skeleton cast, who has been staying at the museum in Cardiff for the past three months. (19 October and 26 January.)
