Event:Festival of Archaeology: National Roman Legion Museum – Fire
Find out about the ancient art of blacksmithing, as well as coin striking and coinage in the Roman world.
Make some Roman style bread and cook it over an open fire or try to start a fire yourself using a bow drill.
Meet our soldiers in camp as well – maybe have a go at gambling with Gaius - and take a selfie wearing replica Roman armour!

Plan your visit
Opening Hours
10am – 5pm daily (open Bank Holiday Mondays).
Admission is free, however a charge may apply for some exhibitions, events and activities.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to conduct bag searches when entering the Museum
Parking
Parking is either on Broadway (next to the amphitheatre), Museum Street (limited parking) or off High Street, adjacent to the Baths. Cycle stands are available at the amphitheatre.

Eat, drink, shop
- The Gallery has no facility for refreshments but there are number of catering outlets in Caerleon town centre.
- The Museum shop will be open during your visit.
- You are welcome to bring a picnic, while there’s nowhere to eat these within the museum, there are areas outside which make for a nice spot.
