Event:Celebration of Nature

St Fagans National Museum of History
Finished

Join us as we celebrate the wealth of nature at St Fagans National Museum of History.

We’ll have our Amgueddfa Cymru scientists on hand to give you a glimpse into the fascinating diversity of life in the woodlands and gardens of St Fagans.

Learn from our experts in plants, bugs and everything creepy crawly.

We’ve partnered with lots of local nature-based charities who will add their expertise to the day.

Here’s some of the things to do on the day -

  • See and identify some of the huge range of plants in St Fagans.
  • Make a craft Venus fly trap or take yourself on a botanical trail.
  • Take a trip to the seaside indoors with a marine rockpool where you can create your own animal.
  • Learn about what animals you’re likely to find around the coast of South Wales.
  • Get up close to some species of birds you can spot around St Fagans or maybe catch a glimpse of them at the bird hide out in the museum.
  • Make a willow wand and decorate it with some natural materials.
  • Find out about the types of creepy crawlies that live in the woodlands of St Fagans.
  • Take part in a Treasure Hunt around some of the less visited parts of the museum.*
  • Learn more about the wonderful Welsh Wetlands.
  • See what animals call St Fagans home through the footprint tracker data.
  • Find out more about the mammoths that would have roamed South Wales during the last Ice Age.
  • See flax being processed in Kennixton Barn – beaten, spun and woven.
  • Meet some of the team of garden conservators as they go about maintaining the grounds of St Fagans.

*the path is level access all the way around however there are uneven and possibly muddy areas.
