Event:Meet the Victorian

St Fagans National Museum of History
Finished

Step back in time and discover what daily life was like for children in Victorian Wales at St Fagans National Museum of History. Join us in the Maestir Schoolroom to meet the schoolteacher and explore the strict routines, repetitive lessons, and behavioural customs of a bygone era.

Your guide will introduce you to the history and significance of Victorian education, bringing to life the rules, rewards, and punishments that shaped the daily experience of pupils. You’ll have the chance to handle genuine and replica objects and to snap photos in costume. Perfect for families, this interactive session offers a fun and engaging glimpse into the past, all within the unique and atmospheric setting of our historic schoolroom.

English sessions: 11am, 12pm & 2pm

Welsh session: 3pm

  • This workshop takes place in Maestir School, this is a 5 minute walk from the front entrance.
Due to the nature of the historic building, pushchairs must be left outside in the allocated bay provided.
Please note, no food or drink may be consumed inside the historic buildings.
