Course:Natural Dyeing with Garden Plants
There are many garden plants that have been used for dyeing, and others that are grown especially for their colour potential. You will learn what plants to choose, and how to grow them, in the inspirational setting of the Dye Garden at the National Wool Museum in Dre-fach Felindre. Then you will dye a range of samples from honey tones to yellows, brown, red and coral pink (with notes on recipes to take home). Processes covered in the workshop include making and using plant dyes and colour modification.
This fun, relaxed day is suitable for complete beginners. All equipment and materials and protective clothing will be supplied - please wear suitable clothing and closed shoes not sandals. You may also wish to bring a notebook and camera/phone.
Gloves (non-latex), aprons, and goggles will be provided. The workshop features wool, so please bear this in mind if you are allergic to wool/lanolin.
