In this hands-on science session, children become plant detectives as they explore the Museum’s brand-new Meadow Trail. Using leaves collected by The Big Science Project, we will run an experiment in the "lab" to investigate the hidden components that make up a plant.
Using science tools, participants will grind their leaves to release the internal fluids, then use chromatography to separate the different pigments hidden within. It is a fantastic way to see the invisible chemistry that helps plants grow and survive in our local ecosystem.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Due to lack of space, we are only able to allocate space for one adult per booking.
