This is probably the first time this topic has been covered, looking at how women worked in the pits - on the surface and underground - and later in the offices and medical centres

Opening Hours

Our opening hours are changing for the winter season.

From Monday 4 November until 31 January 2025, we will be open 9.30am – 4pm every day.

Underground tours are available 10am – 3pm

Parking

If you are arriving by car you will need to pay on arrival. £5 per day. FREE for disabled badge holders and motorbikes. This charge is for parking only – entry to the Museum remains free.

Eat, drink, shop

  • Our coffee shop serves a small range of hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks. 
  • The Museum shop will be open during your visit.
  • You are welcome to bring a picnic to the Museum.
