Canvas ground embroidered with coloured filoselle threads in tent, cross and back stitches. Verse entitled 'Sanctuary', flanked by floral motifs, with row of bird motifs above. Top three motifs on each side copied from old German fan. Lettering worked in cross stitch, remainder of canvas filled with tent stitch and a little back stitch. At base, landscape of snow scene with bridge within rectangular compartment, with maker's initials and date below.
