A view on the estuary of the river Taf at Laugharne, near the artist's birthplace of Ferryside in Dyfed. Lewis based this painting upon a black and white photograph, from which he squared off and transferred the outline of the scene. He had learned this technique from his teacher W.R. Sickert, who frequently utilised photographs as the basis of compositions.
