Iain Sinclair, author of Downriver, Lights Out for the Territory and Rodinsky’s room, returned to the landscape of his youth, the Gower, for his new book Black Apples of Gower, and rediscovered it through the poetry of Dylan Thomas, Vernon Watkins and the paintings of Ceri Richards. This October, the Welsh-born author comes to Cardiff to discuss his book at a FREE event in the Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre at National Museum Cardiff on Monday 19 October at 6.30pm (doors open 6pm).

National Museum Wales major collection of Snowdonia works by John Piper opens in north Wales

An outstanding group of views in Snowdonia by the artist John Piper, one of the most versatile British artists of the 20th century, will go on tour to north Wales for the first time. The exhibition, The Mountains of Wales which features inspiring landscapes of north Wales, opens at Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw, Llanbedrog, near Pwllheli in Gwynedd from 11 October to 13 December 2015. The collection will then be shown at Oriel Ynys Mon on Anglesey next year (13 Feb –19 June 2016)
