National Roman Legion Museum

Take a trip back in time and meet a Roman preparing for the midwinter festival of Saturnalia! What happened at these Roman celebrations? What presents did people give and receive? What food did they eat? Explore a festival steeped in tradition, religion, and food! 

While you’re here, take a look and browse around the Caerleon Christmas Craft & Food Market held at Caerleon Town Hall and enjoy carols around the Christmas tree.

Parking

Parking is either on Broadway (next to the amphitheatre), Museum Street (limited parking) or off High Street, adjacent to the Baths. Cycle stands are available at the amphitheatre.

Eat, drink, shop

  • The Gallery has no facility for refreshments but there are number of catering outlets in Caerleon town centre.
     
  • The Museum shop will be open during your visit.
  • You are welcome to bring a picnic, while there’s nowhere to eat these within the museum, there are areas outside which make for a nice spot.
