Join Vic Phillips of SingleMaltTeapot as he takes you through the essential tools and techniques needed to carve your first spoon. You’ll head away with the skills to use Sloyd and Crook woodcraft knives for a variety of wood carving projects as well as a wonderful lime wood kitchen spoon.

 

During the workshop we’ll cover:

Safely using woodcraft cutting techniques. 

How to approach carving wood using Sloyd and Crook knives. 

Applying a beautiful, long lasting finish to your spoon. 

Sourcing new materials and how different woods behave when carved. 

The tools to keep carving at home and how best to care for them 

 

Important Information

 

You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit our on-site catering facilities. We can offer a 10% discount to course participants in our catering outlets* on production of your ticket. *(excludes Derwen Bakehouse)

Parking:

The price of this course includes parking. The ticketing team will contact you in the weeks leading up to your course with details (via the email address supplied at time of booking).

Language:

This course will be held in the first language of the facilitator - which is English.

Age:

All participants must be 16+. Any participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating 18+ year old.

Accessibility:

Some of the Museum's learning spaces are up to 5 minute walk from the main building and carpark – please contact events@museumwales.ac.uk prior to booking to discuss any accessibility requirements.
