Event:Mine Monsters

Big Pit National Coal Museum
Join our Supernatural Storyteller on a walk through the mine* and hear ancient Tales of Welsh Folklore’s mysterious ‘Mine Monsters’.
Learn all about the mystical Tylwyth Teg (fairy folk), with stories of the curious Coblynau (Goblins) and the greedy Coal Giant.

*please note the storytelling experience takes place in our ‘King Coal’ simulated mine experience above ground, not in our underground mine.
Following your otherworldly storytelling session, create your own Magic Potions and a ‘Fantasy Folklore Map of Wales’, learning about mischievous mermaids, ancient toads, cursed boars and of course, dragons!
Click here to find out about what else we have on offer over half term including our The Coblynnau of Big Pit.
