Amgueddfa Cymru invites you to a unique and immersive series of films in the golden age of cinema!

Step into a classic cinema experience at National Museum Cardiff, where the historic Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre is transformed into a vintage movie setting for a unique night out.

More than just a film screening, Movies at the Museum blends iconic cinema with live performance, atmosphere and nostalgia. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by Kitsch & Sync Collective’s usherettes and guided into an evening of classic films, entertainment and timeless storytelling.

This Halloween, cinema fans can enjoy an Alfred Hitchock double-bill bringing together two of the most influential thrillers: The Birds and Psycho, rolling into the classic ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ for the festive season, before whistling away to the musical magic of ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ to bring a shine to the beginning of 2027.

So, what can you expect?

• Be guided into our cinema by Kitsch & Sync Collective, whose fabulous usherettes' performance will entertain you pre-show as they escort you down the aisles!
• A truly vintage cinema offering with a selection of short films
• Savour your sweet tooth with popcorn, confectionery and beverages from our pop-up bar.
• A theatre transformed: from era-defining music to imagery of the museum in its historic heyday.

Whether you’re looking for a cinema experience a nostalgic night out with friends, or something a little different this autumn and winter, this series offers a unique way to enjoy timeless films on the big screen. We’ll be showing:

• Doors to the theatre will open 30mins before the screening.
• The feature films will be captioned in English.
• This is a seated event. Please ensure a ticket is purchased for every person attending.
