New commissions to reframe the legacy of Thomas Picton at National Museum Cardiff
Today (5 October 2021) Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales has announced two new artist commissions which will reframe the legacy of Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Picton (1758-1815). The museum hopes that the new commissions will amplify the voices of those originally neglected in the telling of Picton’s story, or those whose lives are most affected by its legacy today. When complete, the new commissions will become a part of Wales’ national collection.

New exhibition at St Fagans National Museum of History tells the story of the Windrush generation in Wales
A new exhibition opening at St Fagans this weekend features stories of how the Windrush Generation Cymru made their homes in Wales. Windrush Cymru – Our Voices, Our Stories, Our History will be on display at St Fagans from 2 to 31 October 2021 before touring to further national museums across Wales until March 2022.
Artworks by Portuguese artist Paula Rego on display at National Museum Cardiff
Two important artworks by Portugese-born artist Paula Rego (b.1935) will go on display at National Museum Cardiff from 2 September 2021. The works have been acquired by the Derek Williams Trust for their collection in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales.
