It’s 100 years since Caerleon's Amphitheatre was unearthed - Britain's only fully excavated Amphitheatre, and a place Romans would have enjoyed sports and entertainment.

Join us to find out about the excavations and the amazing archaeologist who did most of the work, Tessa Wheeler. 

Plus a chance to discover some objects of your own in our mini ‘Dig Pit!’

Parking

Parking is either on Broadway (next to the amphitheatre), Museum Street (limited parking) or off High Street, adjacent to the Baths. Cycle stands are available at the amphitheatre.

Eat, drink, shop

  • The Gallery has no facility for refreshments but there are number of catering outlets in Caerleon town centre.
     
  • The Museum shop will be open during your visit.
  • You are welcome to bring a picnic, while there’s nowhere to eat these within the museum, there are areas outside which make for a nice spot.
