Talk:The Future of our Past - New Perspectives on Caerleon and the Roman Conquest of Wales

All museums are finite spaces. Roman archaeological sites are often artefact-rich and, following 180 years of collecting and preserving Caerleon's Roman items and one major building extension forty years ago, the National Roman Legion Museum is nearly full to capacity.

Dr Mark Lewis will use this lecture to assess the importance of continued collecting and the museum's existing collection for changing our understanding of aspects of life in Roman Caerleon.  He will also consider how recent research away from Caerleon is adding more to our understanding of the Roman conquest period in Wales.
