Event:Mosaics

National Roman Legion Museum

Come and find out about Roman mosaics this summer.

Ancient Romans decorated their buildings with mosaics made from small tiles called tesserae. These were fitted together to create a pattern or a picture. Mosaics have been found around the world, including Caerleon, and were a way to show off wealth and status. Find out how mosaics were made and used, and handle some real Roman objects.
