The Good Food Cardiff Zone will be celebrating Cardiff being named one of the most sustainable food cities in the UK. Join in with activities for all the family to learn about food which is good for people and the planet. The tent will include inspiring workshops, demos, talks and activities celebrating local food.

Bean Boosters: Family Food Fun with ACE
Get hands-on with beans in this fun family workshop! Make your own Super Seasonal Bean Cups, try a delicious Fruity White Bean Smoothie, and discover why beans are great for both people and the planet. With games, colouring activities, fascinating bean facts and a Guess the Pulses challenge - there's something for everyone!

Join Llio as she chats with a local food business trading at the festival about their journey, passion for food and commitment to sustainability. Discover the people behind the produce, hear what it takes to run a local food business, and explore how local food can support healthy communities, the local economy and a more sustainable food system.

Join David Le Masurier for a sourdough bread demo, showing how flour, water and salt combine to make something delicious.

Magnificent Microgreens! with Grow Cardiff
A hands-on workshop for children and families, exploring the fascinating world of microgreens. Join us for a free, fun session: make your own upcycled pots, sow and grow your own microgreens to take home and enjoy.

Join us for a lively cooking demonstration showcasing quick, tasty and affordable pulse-based recipes you can recreate at home. Discover how beans, peas and lentils can add flavour, nutrition and versatility to everyday meals while being good for both planet and health!

Tour: Vegetable Gardens Through the Ages with St Fagans' Gardeners
Join the Museum's Gardening Team for a guided tour exploring how vegetable growing has evolved in Wales across the historic landscape of St Fagans.

Discover traditional techniques such as raised beds and seed broadcasting in Hendre'r-Ywydd-Uchaf, alongside archaeological evidence and agricultural surveys in Nantwallter. Learn about heritage seeds and historic crop varieties, including potatoes grown at Rhyd-y-car, and uncover stories from the Dig for Victory campaign in the Prefab garden. Along the way, see historic tools like seed drills, and even explore the curious absence of potatoes in Abernodwydd Farmhouse garden.

Meet at the Good Food Cardiff Zone tent for a prompt 12pm start. The tour involves walking on mixed terrain and may not be suitable for all access needs. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. This activity is weather dependent.

Safety Information for Visitors

Due to the historical nature of the site, please note the following potential hazards:

  • Water ponds and pools
  • Trip hazard on uneven paths and steps
  • Slippery surface paths, slopes and grassed areas

 Parking

If you are driving to St Fagans, you will have to pay for parking. The cost is £7 per day and can be paid by cash or card. FREE for disabled badge holders and motorbikes. 12 month season ticket available for £45. This charge is for parking only – entry to the Museum remains free.
